春有百花秋有月，夏有涼風冬有雪。
若無閑事掛心頭，便是人間好時節。
Spring has a hundred flowers, autumn has the moon; summer has cool breeze, winter has snow.
If you have no idle things on your mind, then is the best time of the year.
這首詩是宋代無門慧開禪師所作，收錄在他纂集的禪宗公案集《無門關》中，禪師因苦參「無」字話頭開悟，這首詩也承載著他的禪學思想，可從字面與心境哲理兩層理解：
《春有百花秋有月，夏有涼風冬有雪》以極簡的語言勾勒出四季獨有的盛景： 春天百花盛放、生機盎然，秋天皓月當空、靜謐悠遠，夏天涼風習習、消解暑熱，冬天白雪皚皚、純凈安寧。點明大自然本就處處藏著美好，每個時節都有不可替代的魅力，風花雪月是四季最本真的饋贈。
《若無閑事掛心頭，便是人間好時節》這裏的「閑事」指擾人心神的俗念瑣事——名利的計較、得失的糾結、日常的煩惱牽絆等。這句話強調心境的決定性作用：當我們能拋開這些雜念，不被煩惱裹挾，以平常心接納生活，就不會錯過四季的美好。無論身處哪個時節，內心清寧無掛礙的時刻，就是人生最好的時光。
它也暗含禪宗「頓悟」的思想指引：真正的美好不在外界環境，而在於自身的眼光與心境。只要放下俗念，就能在任何境遇裏尋得自在，體會到生活的本真之美，正如禪師在《無門關》序中所說「大道無門，千差有路；透得此關，乾坤獨步」，修得胸中雅量，便時時是好時，日日是好日。
This poem was written by the Chan master Wu Men Hui Kai during the Song Dynasty and is included in his collection of Chan, "Wu Men Guan". The master had an epiphany after meditating on the word "no". This poem also embodies his Chan philosophy, can be understood on both a literal and philosophical level:
"Spring has a hundred flowers, autumn has a bright moon; summer has cool breezes, and winter has snow" This verse sketches out the unique splendor of the four seasons in a concise language: the vibrant blooms and lively vitality of spring, the serene and distant autumn sky the bright moon, the cool breezes of summer that dispel the heat, and the pure and tranquil snow of winter. It highlights that nature is full of beauty, and season has its unique charm, with the wind, flowers, snow, and moon being the most authentic gifts of the four seasons.
"If there is nothing to worry about then it is the best time in the world." The "leisurely matters" here refer to trivial worldly thoughts that disturb the mind—the calculations of fame and fortune the entanglements of gain and loss, the worries and entanglements of daily life, etc. This sentence emphasizes the decisive role of the mind: when we can let go these distracting thoughts and not be overwhelmed by worries, and accept life with a normal mind, we will not miss the beauty of the four seasons. No matter which season we are in the moment when the mind is clear and peaceful without any worries is the best time in life.
It also contains the guiding thought of "sudden enlightenment" in Chan: the real beauty does not lie in the external environment, but in one's own perspective and state of mind. As long as one puts aside worldly thoughts, one can freedom in any situation and experience the true beauty of life. As the master said in the preface of "Wu Men Guan", "The great way has no gate but a thousand differences have their own paths; if one passes through this gate, one can walk alone in the universe." With a broad mind cultivated, every day is a good, and every moment is a good time.
